Guild Acoustic Guitars
Originally, the company was opened by George Mann and Al Dronge in 1953. Their first line up of guitars consisted of just a small selection of flattop acoustic and arch top electric guitar models. But by 1955, Guild Guitar Company was able to introduce more arch top acoustics. It was also in this same year that Mann quit the company and thus, Dronge took over.
With the introduction of their famous 3 Guild acoustic guitars in 1954, the company was able to form a foundation of an acoustic empire. These three guitars were the F-40 Valencia, F-50 Navarre and F-30 Aragon. In 1963, the famous D-50 Bluegrass Special and D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee were introduced through the insistence of the son of Al Dronge, Mark. But it wasn’t until 1968 when the real flagship Guild acoustic guitar first appeared, the D-55. Because of these guitars, the company received prevalent use and praise from both amateurs and legendary artists such as George Strait, Big Kenny, and Richie Havens. Today, Guild Guitar Company is as vibrant and productive as ever. Throughout the years, they continue to achieve an eternal heritage and history of real old world craftsmanship, solid value, and a modern improvement on their designs. It is for these qualities that the Guild Guitar Company has been able to build its name in the industry of guitar and musical equipment.
